Choose New Trasdata or PCMFlash?
When it comes to ECU programming and chip tuning, two of the most prominent tools in the automotive diagnostic world are New Trasdata and PCMFlash. Both offer high-end features for ECU, TCU, and module programming, but which one should you choose?Key Features of New Trasdata:
● Wide ECU Compatibility: New Trasdata supports a wide range of ECUs from various manufacturers.
● High-Speed Reading/Writing: Fast read and write processes, minimizing downtime.
● Security and Bypass Features: Features for working with locked ECUs, as well as security bypass functions for encrypted ECUs.
● Flexibility for Tuning and Repair: Ideal for chip tuning, diagnostics, and repairs across various car brands.
● User-Friendly Interface: A straightforward, easy-to-navigate interface for technicians of all skill levels.
Key Features of PCMFlash:
● Advanced ECU Programming: PCMFlash offers powerful ECU and TCU programming features for more experienced users.
● Customizable Protocols: Highly customizable software protocols that are especially useful for complex ECU and TCU projects.
● Support for Multiple Brands: Like New Trasdata, PCMFlash supports a wide range of car brands and models.
● Advanced Diagnostics: Ideal for in-depth diagnostics and repairs, PCMFlash can access and interpret vehicle data more thoroughly.
● Updated Regularly: PCMFlash offers regular software updates to ensure it remains compatible with the latest ECU technologies.
Key Points to Consider about New Trasdata:
Vehicle Coverage:
New Trasdata boasts a wider range of vehicle makes and models, supporting various ECUs within a car, while PCMFlash typically focuses on specific ECU types within a smaller set of vehicles.
Functionality:
New Trasdata allows for reading, writing, and backing up the entire ECU memory, including flash, EEPROM, and serial EEPROM, providing greater flexibility for complex programming tasks.PCMFlash primarily focuses on flashing the main ECU memory for performance tuning.
Cost:
Generally, New Trasdata is considered a more expensive option due to its wider capabilities and vehicle compatibility, whereas PCMFlash is often a more affordable entry point for specific tuning needs.
Which One Should You Choose: New Trasdata or PCMFlash
Who should choose New Trasdata:
Professional automotive technicians who require a versatile tool to work on a wide variety of vehicles and perform complex ECU programming tasks.
Shops that need to diagnose and reprogram various ECUs within a vehicle.
Who should choose PCMFlash:
Enthusiast tuners looking for a cost-effective way to flash specific ECUs for performance tuning on a limited range of vehicles.
Individuals who primarily focus on tuning a specific car make and model.
Conclusion:
1. PCMFlash only covers EDC17 ECUs. No service mode for EDC16 so if that's what you need, You can choose Original New Trasdata.
2. The Trasdata with EDC16/17 Service mode and can do almost every ECU on bench without opening.
3. PCM better use with scanmatik 2 pro. For EDC17 it's a little faster, as it doesn't need to IDECU everytime, does not look for correct plugin.
4. Had two EDC17CV42 units, that Trasdata could notidentify and thus, could not write (it read correctly) because it could not find correct checksumdalgorithm. PCM Flash did that ECU without problem.
5. If you need wider coverage on bench, go for Trasdata. MEDc17 service mode is great, just hook up the ECU without opening it. All instructions and pinouts are built intothe software. Some use New trasdata for open mode and bench.
